There would hardly be a business that doesn’t handle or generate sensitive information - information that is the intellectual property of the business or sensitive information about its customers. The last thing you want is information about your business escaping via your rubbish to your competitors or other groups seeking to damage you. The other thing you don’t want to experience is having legal action taken by customers who find you have inadvertently leaked information about them in your rubbish etc.

Today, paper shredders are seeing a major jump in sales due to increased national awareness of identity theft. Every week you now read or hear about an unsuspecting victim being caught out of pocket. Certainly the internet has played a major part in the increase but it has also highlighted the dangers in simply discarding paper documentation without thinking.
